About this fabric

This is a light blue royal oxford dress shirt in a wrinkle-resistant Thomas Mason cotton, woven in Italy and made to your measurements by Panache Bespoke. It has the fine basket weave and soft sheen royal oxford is known for, plus a wrinkle-resistant finish, so it still looks crisp after a long day at the desk or a flight.

Why this royal oxford works for business

Royal oxford is the dressier cousin of regular oxford cloth. The weave is finer and smoother, so it sits well under a suit and tie, yet it has enough texture to wear open at the neck on a casual Friday. Light blue is the easiest business color there is. It works with navy, gray and charcoal suits and with nearly every tie in your drawer.

The wrinkle-resistant finish is the practical part. The fabric rates 4 out of 5 for wrinkle resistance, so it holds its shape better than most untreated cottons through meetings, commutes and travel. A quick touch-up with a low iron is usually all it needs.

Fabric details

  • Mill: Thomas Mason
  • Origin: Italy
  • Composition: 100% cotton
  • Weave: Royal oxford
  • Yarn: 100s two-ply
  • Weight: Lightweight
  • Opacity: 3 / 5, fairly opaque
  • Treatment: Wrinkle-resistant finish
  • Wrinkle resistance: 4 / 5
  • Color: Light blue
  • Suggested style: Business

100s two-ply means two fine cotton yarns are twisted together for each thread. That gives the cloth a smooth hand and makes it stronger than a single-ply fabric of the same weight. At 3 out of 5 for opacity, it is fairly opaque. If you wear an undershirt, a skin-tone one is the least visible under a light shirt.

Made to your measurements

Every shirt is cut and sewn to order. In the shirt builder you choose the collar, cuffs, placket, pocket, back and an optional monogram. You can size the shirt three ways:

  • Standard size: pick your collar and sleeve length.
  • My measurements: enter your body measurements.
  • My favourite shirt: measure a shirt that already fits you well and we copy it.

Not sure which to use? Our size guide walks you through each measurement. Your shirt is made in 5 to 6 working days, or in 2 to 3 working days with urgent stitching.

How to style it

  • Office: navy or charcoal suit, a burgundy or navy tie and dark brown or black shoes.
  • Client meetings and interviews: a spread collar and a solid or small-pattern tie keep it sharp and simple.
  • Business casual: wear it open-necked under a navy blazer with gray trousers or chinos.
  • Travel: the wrinkle-resistant finish makes it a good shirt to pack for a work trip.

Care

Machine wash cold, use non-chlorine bleach only, hang dry and iron on low heat. The fabric is expected to shrink slightly, and we apply counter-shrinkage adjustments when we cut your shirt so it keeps fitting after washing.

Questions about the Thomas Mason wrinkle-resistant light blue royal oxford shirt

What is the difference between royal oxford and regular oxford?

Both use a basket weave, but royal oxford uses finer yarns and a more detailed weave. It looks smoother and has a soft sheen, which makes it dressy enough for a suit. Regular oxford cloth is thicker and more casual.

Is this shirt non-iron?

It has a wrinkle-resistant finish rated 4 out of 5, so it creases far less than untreated cotton. It is not fully iron-free. For the crispest look, give it a light press on low heat.

Is the fabric see-through?

It is rated 3 out of 5 for opacity, which means fairly opaque. If you wear an undershirt, choose a skin-tone one for the cleanest look.

Will it shrink?

It may shrink slightly after washing. We allow for this when cutting, so the finished shirt keeps fitting you.

How long does it take to make?

Each shirt is made to order in 5 to 6 working days. Choose urgent stitching and it is ready in 2 to 3 working days. Delivery time depends on your location. See our shipping policy for details.

What if it does not fit?

Because every shirt is made to your measurements, the EU/UK 14-day right of withdrawal does not apply. If an item is faulty or incorrect, our 30-day remake or refund guarantee covers it. Read our refund policy for details.
